Marriage is the social institution under which a man and a woman are joined together as husband and wife through a legal commitment or a religious covenant with each other. This union between man and woman is usually followed by a wedding reception, during which speeches are delivered by either or both of them. This brings us to this question: Does the groom toast the bride? Let’s find out.

For the first part of your groom’s speech, what you can say is this “A pleasant afternoon, ladies and gentlemen! I stand here today on behalf of my beautiful wife to formally welcome you to our wedding reception. I do hope that you’re all having a great time on this special day because I know I am. It is especially heart-warming and touching to see so many of our friends and relatives gathered here today to help us celebrate this wonderful moment in our lives. This wedding would not have been this memorable and meaningful if you were not here to share it with us.”

After thanking your guests, what you can do is to tell them short narratives about how your romance came to be. In your anecdote, you may begin with how you and your bride first met, how she instantly caught your eye, how you bravely asked her out for a first date, and how your dates went. Follow it with how you slowly fell in love with her, how you officially became a couple, how you proposed to her when you realized that she was the woman you wanted to spend the rest of your life with, how she said yes to your proposal, and how you prepared for the wedding.

Once you are finished with the story-telling, seize the chance to thank your bride in front of all your guests. “And now, to my wife, I wish to thank you in front of all of our guests for choosing me. You made me the happiest man in the world when you said ‘yes’ and today when you said ‘I do’. You are and will always be my joy – the most precious thing in the world to me. I will hold you dear and take care of you like a rare gem. I love you from now until forever.”

“With that being said, I now propose a toast. To my beautiful bride. To us. To our forever.”

So, let me ask you again – Does the groom toast the bride? Definitely!
